This Month's Topic: Who Owns Art?

Disputed claims of ownership for works of literature, visual art, sculpture and glass are making headlines today in and beyond the Jewish community.  In this session, we will explore what is in dispute, why, and how competing values are represented.  From the rescued writings of Franz Kafka, to hidden murals by Bruno Schulz, and collections on view in major museums that include sacred items taken from African countries, each situation raises complex ethical questions. Join us as we look at the concept of ownership through a philosophical lens and see art in a new way.
