(The date of this was incorrectly advertised in our printed High Holy Day brochure as Friday, October 4. It will be held on Saturday, October 5.)
The evening will begin with a reception in the Social Hall at 7:30 PM. We will then move into the Sanctuary for a brief Havdalah ceremony before the program begins.
As we mark the end of Shabbat Shuvah and continue the work of self-healing, we think of the pain and the grief our people have experienced since October 7. “Songs of Healing in a Post October 7th World”, a new concert by The Heart to Heart Songbook. A concert of soul nourishing original songs, poetry and communal singing carefully crafted to create a safe place where grief, joy and resilience intertwine. Spiritual counselor and author, Susan P. Lax, draws on her years of experience in the field of grief and loss to co-create this concert with Shira, named the “golden-voiced singer,” by The New York Times, singer-songwriter, and Artist in Residence at B'nai Jeshurun in NYC.
Communities are wrestling with how to commemorate the atrocities of October 7th and navigate through the ongoing devastating situation. Susan and Shira, both Israeli-American, have thoughtfully created a concert specifically designed to meet the difficulty of this moment. Join us as we gather as a community to develop resilience, hope and healing.
“...a truly unique partnership between two talented and creative artists in
their own right, a program that aligns with our vision of a more spiritually
connected world," —Cantor David Mintz, Director of the Center for Prayer and
Spirituality at B’nai Jeshurun NYC
