Spring 2021 Update

Generous contributors have committed over $7.7 million in support of From Strength to Strength’s comprehensive vision. Thank you! And while our active campaign work concluded in 2020, we will continue to keep you informed about the good things your gifts have made possible. Your charitable dollars have positioned Beth Am to better respond to our unpredictably challenging year, with hope for a return to more normal circumstances as soon as possible. Thank you for helping to ensure that Beth Am remains an important place for our virtual Jewish community experience and beyond!

From Strength to Strength is comprised of three pillars: Improvements & Innovations, Professional Team Housing Fund and Endowment Funds. These areas combine to provide holistic support to sustain our congregation, nurturing an environment of innovation and responsiveness to changing circumstances and needs.

Improvements & Innovations
This is the most diverse pillar, comprising everything from large and small facility upgrades to major program initiatives, all to support a better and more inclusive member experience in this community. Here are the areas currently being funded by this component of From Strength to Strength:

Programs:

  • Our Inclusion Specialist Meredith McEvoy, who guides and supports the educational path for students in our Youth Education programs who have special learning needs.
  • The Orchard, a community of young adults directed by Rabbi Prosnit and supported by our new “Community Connector,” Shiriel King Abramson. (This position is made possible with support from the Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund.)

Our Campus:
We have taken this opportunity, when our campus is not being used, to give some TLC to our beautiful facility. Here are some recent campaign-funded projects that you’ll see once we are back in person:

  • Hearing assistance technology and new lighting in the Sanctuary
  • New Social Hall chairs
  • Repaired partition doors between the Sanctuary & Social Hall
  • Installation of sensor-based light switches and soap dispensers campus-wide
  • Landscaping improvements campus-wide
  • Installation of new speed bumps
  • Re-painting and striping of parking lot and campus signage

Professional Team Housing Fund
Provides rental and purchase support for our clergy team, allowing them and their families to live comfortably and ensure their long-term roots in our community. This fund is currently providing assistance to 5 members of our Program Team.

Endowment
Endowment funds, including the Fund for the Future, the Seiler Family Fund and the Marder Endowment for Living Torah, will provide a reliable stream of income for Beth Am programs, ensuring that our community is available to all who seek it, at any stage of life. Especially during the pandemic, we have relied on these funds to help fortify our budget at a time when many members have had to cut back on their dues contribution.

In addition, From Strength to Strength funding has supported the purchase and maintenance of our ShulCloud database, and audio visual equipment for hybrid educational programs and virtual High Holy Day and Shabbat services.

Thank you for your investment in this community we share!
