"I was the rabbi of a Jewish community in Berlin under the Hitler regime, I learned many things. The most important thing that I learned in my life is that bigotry and hatred are not the most urgent problems. The most urgent, the most disgraceful, the most shameful, and the most tragic problem is silence." —Rabbi Prinz

In these extraordinary times the Pursue Justice team works to strengthen our democracy through constructive and non-partisan civic engagement. Our safety and our values demand we stand up for our democracy. The Jewish Council for Public Affairs has published a statement of concern about the, "recent attacks on democratic norms and values."

The main point was, "History has made clear that our safety as Jews is inextricably linked with inclusive, pluralistic democracy and with the rights and safety of all people. When the rule of law and democratic norms are threatened, antisemitism invariably increases and Jews — and all communities — are made less safe."

Now is the time to contact your Senators and Representative to let them know you are against the direct assault on the principles that underpin our democracy. Use the 5 Calls App to help you give feedback to your elected representatives. The free app is available from the App store or go to 5calls.org. First set your location so the app can find your Senators and Representative. Then pick the issue you would like to call about. The app gives you background info and a sample call script. It will also make the call for you. (It also has issues to call the Governor and Attorney General.)

The Beth Am Pursue Justice Committee engages in non-partisan, pro-democracy work through voter engagement. Sign up to be on our mailing list.
