June Tzedakah Box: Second Harvest Food Bank
Second Harvest Food Bank is our area's largest food bank and is committed to fighting hunger in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Second Harvest of Silicon Valley works with a variety of groups at the local, state and federal level to ensure that anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one. These partnerships enable Second Harvest to distribute food, connect people with food resources in their neighborhood, and strengthen programs and policies that help to build a hunger-free community. Even before COVID-19, Second Harvest was responding to a level of food insecurity in Silicon Valley that indicated there was already a crisis, providing groceries to a record number of clients every month. The economic crisis created by the pandemic has pushed many families deeper into poverty and caused others to seek food assistance for the very first time. Second Harvest is now serving 400,000 people every month, a 60% increase over pre-pandemic levels. Learn more about Second Harvest.
