Week 3: Shabbat
Hebrew Letter: SHIN for “Shabbat” and “Shalom”
- FAMILY CHALLENGE: We want to make a Shabbat greeting video for our whole Beth Am community! This Friday night, video your family at your Shabbat table sharing a short Shabbat Shalom greeting and submit it. We’ll put it together and share on Beth Am’s social media!
- Suggestions: Family saying “Shabbat Shalom from our family to yours,” A family member saying a blessing, a child singing a line from a Shabbat song.

Pre-K / Kindergarten / 1st Grade
- PJ Library has compiled a comprehensive list of resources for quarantined families, which includes read-alouds, cooking, crafts and more.
- The classic favorite Shalom Sesame (Jewish Sesame Street) offers an array of educational videos about Hebrew, Holidays, Israel and more.
- You can also download the "Good Night, Good Morning” blessings app from the CCAR for bedtime and wake up!
2nd Grade
2nd grade has been learning stories from Genesis, and left off right after the meeting of Rebecca (Parashat Chayei Sarah):
- Students can review and learn ahead with these great videos from BimBam.
- If you’re looking for a read-aloud, we recommend purchasing the JPS Children’s Bible, which has beautiful illustrations and stays true to the Torah text.
- Our 2nd grade textbook, The Explorer’s Bible: Volume I, is also available for purchase.

3rd Grade
