“A Lesson from Purim — Healthy and Unhealthy Skills for Conflict Resolution”

This month we read the story of Purim, and see that different characters in the story deal very differently with conflict. Some react with the “fight” impulse- like wanting to kill a lot of people. Some respond with the “flight” impulse, and want to run away or ignore what is going on. And lastly, some find themselves in the “freeze” mode, unable to think clearly or take action for themselves. Most mammals are programmed with these fight, flight, and freeze mechanisms for survival. But how do we learn to take conflict resolution to a higher level, and get the results we want for ourselves and our families?

All parents of PreK-5th Graders are welcome to drop into any session of Parent Wisdom Circle. We start our morning with coffee, bagels and schmoozing, then discuss parenting challenges, and share resources and ideas with each other.

Parent Wisdom Circle is facilitated by Melissa Kelley, LMFT, a Beth Am member and parent.
