August Tzedakah Box: Keren b'Kavod
Beth Am's August Tzedakah Box supports Keren b'Kavod — the Center for Social and Communal Activity of the Israeli Reform Movement. Keren b'Kavod assists populations in distress, including new immigrants from the Ethiopian community, Bedouins, the elderly, lonely soldiers and disadvantaged women, with an emphasis on social empowerment. Keren b'Kavod conducts activities throughout the year in the areas of education, culture and nutritional security. As a fund for Humanitarian Assistance and Social Responsibility, they assist disadvantaged populations throughout the year from all segments of Israeli society, regardless of religion, place of origin or political affiliation, in order to minimize gaps in Israeli society and promote social justice. The organization's mission is to influence and create tikkun olam — repairing of the world — in Israeli society. This is done by operating programs and projects of philanthropy and social involvement in conjunction with Reform congregations throughout Israel.
