Sunday, January 19, 2025 • 19 Tevet 5785
2:00 PM - 3:30 PMBeit KehillahSponsored by Beth Am's Dayenu Circle
We live in challenging times and when life is unsure, small personal actions are something we can do to make a difference. This Martin Luther King Day as we all face climate changes together, we will gather to understand how tikkun olam and protecting our planet is a core part of our individual obligation as Jews.
Beth Am’s Dayenu Circle is delighted to present Rabbi Shelly Lewis, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Kol Emeth, to enlighten us and speak about his recently published book, How Precious the Ground on Which We Stand: Jewish Values that Could Save the Earth. This wonderful, easy-to-read book brings sustainability into focus through our Jewish teachings. Judaism has a lot to say about this most pressing issue, and this book is engaging, scholarly and inspiring. Rabbi Lewis will share some of his journey in writing this work and will read a few passages as well as take audience questions. Rabbi Lewis will sign copies of his book which will be available for purchase after the event.
Event is free and open to everyone. Please register using the form below.
Rabbi Shelly Lewis was educated at the University of Chicago and the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City, where he was ordained as a rabbi.
